Rugby League Challenge Cup comes to Pocklington
Pocklington Rugby in the Community (PRTIC) is delighted to reveal that the Hull Kingston Rovers Foundation is bringing Rugby League Challenge Cup to Pocklington rugby club on Friday 12th September.
The cup will initially be on show at PRITC’s monthly Pie & Pud meeting; but from 2.30pm onwards until circa 4.30pm the club will open for the public to see the trophy and take photographs. School parties are also welcome between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.
There is no charge for this viewing so anyone can come along; but if you want to make a donation on the day any proceeds will be shared between the two charities, Hull KR Foundation and PRITC.
”It’s a brilliant chance for Pocklington to get up close to this impressive trophy”, said Andy Bowden, chair of Pocklington Rugby in the Community, adding: “this is a fantastic opportunity for Pocklington and the surrounding area to view the challenge cup and have your photograph taken with it, so bring your mobile phones. Following their thrilling win at Wembley in June, it’s the first time in 45 years that Hull KR can parade the trophy around East Yorkshire, so it’s an opportunity not to be missed. We look forward to seeing as many people as possible on the day, and please wear your club colours and shirts.”
Paul Hamnett, CEO of Hull KR Foundation said: "We are looking forward to coming to Pocklington and sharing our success with the community. We’ve tried to get the trophy out to as many people as we can; winning the trophy saw 45 years of emotion come out and people wanted to be part of those celebrations. Our Foundation works hard throughout the year to connect with communities, and we are looking forward to learning about what happens in Pocklington and educating people about our work, and where there are synergies to inspire people together.”
