Pocklington Rugby in the Community was created to strengthen the community through activities that promote health and well-being and enhance lives for all.
The charity has 3 main aims: to care, to assist, to develop.
To create and strengthen partnerships with other sporting organisations to broaden participation.
To use the central position and excellent facilities of PRUFC, to create a Community Hub.

“The volunteers at Pocklington Rugby in the Community Charity are the true strength of the organisation. Drawn from all walks of life, they give their time, skills and energy to support people of all ages. Their work builds confidence, promotes wellbeing and inclusion, and strengthens community life across Pocklington. The impact they make is immense and deeply valued.”
THE YEAR IN REVIEW
2025 was another fantastic year and our success is once again due to the hard work of our volunteers, donors and supporters. We completed our first 12 months as a recipient of The King’s Award for Voluntary Service which was presented by James Dick OBE, Lord Lieutenant for East Riding of Yorkshire.
Our successful events programme continued, including Friday Socials, inclusive sports and the Pocklington Volunteer Awards - all whilst supporting local charities and groups in the community.
New activities for 2025 included our Cancer Cafe established in August, which will expand in 2026. Sustainability was a 2025 focus, as our fundraising committee brokered a partnership with Pocklington Community Trust and Dove House Hospice to establish the “Your Charity Lottery”.
2026 will see us strive to deliver even more, as we look to launch our Sports Social Fund and expand our reach even further.
PIE AND PUD
Pie & Pud has gone from strength to strength with numbers now reaching 50+. 2025 saw talks by a submariner, a First Responder, a viewing of the Rugby League Challenge Cup and other great events.
FRIDAY SOCIALS
Now a local institution, we hosted regular meetings, an afternoon tea at Burnby Hall Gardens, a Christmas lunch for 65 guests and 15 volunteers. Plus delivering 73 Christmas lunches and treating 80 guests to a cinema outing to see Downton Abbey.
PARKINSON’S CAFE
This lifeline service continues to flourish with over 55 people attending at a time. As the accompanying activity sessions grow, we’ve recruited six additional volunteers to support delivery. The impact is vast - with 100% of attendees saying their wellbeing has improved and 70% feeling less lonely.
POCKDOWN FESTIVAL
Hailed as our ‘best yet’, over 2500 visitors benefitted from free access to rides, stalls, our SEND tent, St John's Ambulance and even a petting zoo. For every £1 we invested in Pockdown, we generated £4.08 in social value.
