Celebrate the ‘End of Pockdown’ at Pocklington Rugby Club event

Pocklington residents are being urged to save the date as the town gets ready to celebrate the ‘End of Pockdown’.

A family friendly event has been planned for Saturday, July 31 as the country emerges from the Covid pandemic.

The main aims of the event are to help as many businesses/services as possible to help them get back up and running again and providing residents with something to celebrate after a tough year.

Organisers of the event are Pocklington Covid-19 Community Support Group, Pocklington Rugby in the Community, Pock Town Council, East Riding Active Towns and Pocklington Arts Centre.

They are asking for any local businesses who would like to get involved with End of Pockdown to get in touch so they can be part of the big day.

The event (from 1:00pm to 9:00pm) will take place at the rugby club where there will be refreshment stalls, bars, product stalls, kids games and crafts, face painting, Nerf gun zone, slack lines, soft archery, the Beat Bus, fire engine, petting farm, youth dance displays and workshops, theatre workshop plus more activities yet to be confirmed.

Zoe Hodgkin, one of the organisers, said: “We would like to get the word out to Pocklington businesses/shops/charities to attend and run stalls selling their products.

“Any local bands and local entertainers who would like to perform can also contact us. We are also hoping to attract entertainers etc who will come for free to help promote the start-up of their businesses again (there will be a small fee for stall holders) as well as sponsors for the event.

“There will be a small charge for entry but then there will be as much free entertainment as possible once people are in.”
