Chance to nominate your local heroes in this year's Pocklington Community Volunteer Awards 2023
Pocklington Rugby in the Community, in collaboration with Pocklington Town Council and East Riding Council, has launched this year’s search for the town’s community heroes.
Nominations are now open for the Pocklington Community Volunteer Awards 2023, which will be taking place at Pocklington Arts Centre on Friday, September 8.
This year’s categories are: Young Volunteer Award, Sports and Active Volunteer Award, Community Volunteer Award, Volunteer Team Award, Volunteer Trustee Award, Behind the Scenes Volunteer Award and Environmental Volunteer Award.
There will also be an overall award for the ‘Outstanding Volunteer of the Year’ (chosen by the panel from all the entries submitted).
Nominations can be made by members of charities, community groups, local residents, council staff, businesses, groups, fellow volunteers, family members, clubs etc. Basically, anyone who knows how hard a volunteer/team have worked.
People can many nominate as many volunteers as they wish. The deadline for receipt of applications is midnight on Tuesday, August 29.
A spokesperson for the awards said: “Volunteers in our community do the most amazing things!
"We want to recognise these inspiring individuals and groups for the fantastic work they do by celebrating their efforts and achievements for all to see.
“We need your help to find out who these outstanding volunteers are and to nominate them for one of our awards.
"It’s a simple process: choose the award, fill in the nomination form and get it back to us. The awards are for anyone who has volunteered in the Pocklington area over the past 12 months.
"We look forward to hearing about all the amazing things that are happening in our community, and welcoming those nominating, the nominees and members of our community at our awards ceremony on Friday, September 8, between 7pm and 9pm at the Pocklington Arts Centre."
